WAORCA continues to support ORCAOR’s efforts to work in collaboration to reduce regional theft cases. Not every case of retail theft is a child doing low level shoplifting or an adult from our community in need of other resources to turn their life around.
We agree with their assessment that every theft incident should be reported to law enforcement. Comprehensive reporting helps identify repeat offenders, supports prosecutions, improves crime data accuracy, and strengthens efforts to combat organized retail crime throughout our communities. We applaud their data driven focus, open and honest transparency, and community driven collaborative approach in which hard conversations are being had to solve an even harder situation.
